For what it's worth, Glassdoor has 4 truck drivers averaging $62k per year and 3 Class A truck drivers averaging $57k per year at Ruan. Probably the same jobs, just slightly different titles. So, $60k doesn't sound unreasonable, and $72k is probably what the higher percentiles get.
Ruan has been around a long time. I grew up in Iowa, where Ruan is based. When I was a kid, their founder, John Ruan, was sort of a statewide business legend. There are buildings named after him in Des Moines.
Now, just because the founder was a trucking legend doesn't mean this job is for you, but they are a serious player in trucking and have been for a long time. I've never heard anything bad about them, but then I don't read the sites where people go to trash companies. I'd give them a serious look if the job sounds like a good fit for you.
They run ads in my local craigslist too, but they advertise 65k for my area of the country.
Ruan is a pretty established company with a good amount of trucks on the road.
They ask for a year of experience. 65k-72k for a regional hazmat tank driver seems pretty on par to me.

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.
That's what I'm hoping. I already have a tanker endorsement, they said they'd assist in getting the hazmat endorsement. But so will Celadon, so I may as well get it sooner rather than later. Oh well, who knows what could happen in a year. Time will tell.

Yeah, it sucks that I have my wife and kids at home. Buy I know one year over the road will probably fly by. I really do enjoy the job overall though.
I'm sure after my year is over I'll be able to find a better paying and more importantly better home time position. I've got my eye on one in particular, maybe some of you vets can tell me whether it sounds to good to be true, or sounds legit.
A company called Ruan advertises I'm my area frequently about hazmat tanker drivers. Home weekly starts at 72K a year. What say you, is that realistic? I just realized how misleading my title was so to end, yeah I love my job.

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
