Once you've passed all of your tests you'll be given a temporary CDL until you can get your permanent one. You'll be able to drive right away, even with the temporary one.

Yes, you can legally drive an 18 wheel rig once the examiner says "You passed." But most companies will want to do more testing and give you more training before they let you play with their big toys.
