Where To Park My Truck?

So, if you go to work for a company that tells you that you have to take your truck home, where do you park it? I don't have room at my home and there is no local hub in my area for this company. Suggestions? How do you go about finding a place to park?

Some storage facilities will let you rent a space for $30-$50 a month, some folks park at a truck stop and close the curtains to make it seem like they're sleeping, or just talk to the management and get it authorized. I even know a couple that made arrangements with their local church.

I use a Wal-Mart. I just let my DM know I could not take a trailer home so as not to take up too much space for a couple days. Luckily if Wal-Mart decides they don't like it anymore, there are 3 truck stops within 10 miles of my house.

People will park wherever they can find a spot. Most of the time I used truck stops. For a while I used a fire department where a bunch of trucks parked all the time out in a field. It just really depends on where you can find a spot.

Just make sure you get permission if you're going to park somewhere, preferably something in writing that you can stick in the window for any cops to see if you're not in a truck stop. Department stores, old factories, grocery stores, or just wide gravel pull-offs on a side road somewhere. Wherever you can find.

I hand-wrote a permission slip that just said I had permission to park in their parking lot and got a Grocery store manager to agree and sign it. I rarely take a trailer home as the company doesn't really want us tying up empties while at home anyway.

I agree w/Brett that you get permission in writing. You don't wanna show up on the day you're heading out to find it was towed.

I park at my church. Of course, it helps that I spent the 3 1/2 years before going into trucking working for them. The other thing in my favor is there is a parking garage across from the church that is free on weekends so they still have plenty of parking for service when I'm there taking up multiple spots..
