Char, there's no worry about his 2 years holding a license. The law reads that you have to have a valid drivers license for atleast 1 year, before applying for a CDL permit, or getting your permanent CDL. Good luck...oh, and the application question...you will need to fill out your applications individually, but do tell the companies that after school, and your time out with trainers, you will want to team together. Most companies LOVE husband and wife teams.....
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
We've been discussing education today at home and it looks like I'm going to get to be the guinea pig. Mostly because Joe has been at his job since the beginning of time and I've only got 4 years at mine. He's been reading the forum here and at another website and has this fear that we would end up with both of us totally jobless and then lose the house because we are jobless and can't pay the bills.
We're going to bank a couple months mortgage payments so we have a small cushion and I'm gonna start applying. In the meantime.. I am going to study my heart out on here and do my best to learn the material so I am a step ahead. I also am requesting letters from my previous employers listed my dates of employment and also a copy of my college transcript. I want absolutely no surprises.
I have finished the 1st section with total 95% and 2 halts... do you think that is ok?

Char, you're doing fine, but here's a tip that will help you retain what you're learning. When you are answering a question there's a place there for you to click that takes you to the paragraph that contains the answer. It's not cheating, the program is designed that way to reinforce the correct answer in your mind. So, feel free to work on it in that way and you'll be surprised at how quickly you start remembering the correct answers. It halts you because it recognizes that you are guessing because you're not sure.
Yap, Old School is right. For certain questions, right beneath the multiple choice answers, you'll see a yellow bar that says:
"This is a review question from page 32 (or whatever the page is). Click here to view the answer."
Definitely use that if you're less than 100% sure of the answer. The idea is never to guess at any of the answers. Look them up. If the question is from that page, scroll up and look it up. If it's a review question you'll see that message I just mentioned. Click on it to look up the answer.
The idea with the quizzes is to reinforce the answers in your mind. They're not to test your knowledge. They're a learning tool to help you get the answers in your mind. So don't feel like you're cheating if you look up an answer. Quite the opposite in fact. We want you to look up the answers. You'll learn more quickly, more thoroughly, and get through the program in less time.

We are in the research part if this career change. We are getting our documents together... well I am getting mine together as my husband has worked at the same employer for the last 20+ years. (Lucky him). Anyway our goal after training is to work team. Will we do separate applications or just one? I would really like to just do one. Things are so much simpler that way. Also my husband has not quite had his drivers license for two years. Seems almost unbelievable doesn't it (he is 44). Anyways it will be 2 years next month and we probably won't be looking to do our change until early next year. Will his being such a new driver be a problem for us?
Also thanks for such a wonderful and informative site. I've started working on the training already.
