DD, with the internet and cell phones now, having friends, and keeping up with family and all is soooo much easier !! Theres alot of truckers we know that we will both get a load to a place, and take time off to just have fun. You will also find alot of friends within the company you drive for, as you will be bumping into them from time to time. Some women have met their soul mate and co driver while being out on the road. But I caution that, since truckers can be really devious....and married, too. Its kinda like sailors having a girl in every port.. some truckers try to have a girl at every stop..So women in trucking have to be extra careful. You can be looked at as a possible victim. But fellow drivers, as a rule, will treat you will all the respect you demand. Its usually the locals around truck stops that may become a problem..... My husband was a OTR trucker when I met him...when he told me he had some "baggage", I told him to go take care of it, and when it is all settled, call me. Surprisingly enough, thats exactly what he did, which was good, cuz I don't do baggage and I don't do drama. We've been team drivers and married happily married for over 15 years.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Thank you for your honesty, Starcar. I am looking forward to some time alone, but eventually will be looking forward to letting new people into my life. Your story is inspiring Thanks again
