DOT Drug Testing: Urinalysis Or Hair Follicle?

duz anyone know about Total transport in Mississippi ? ..UA or hair ?

From what I can find, Total Transport appears to be affiliated with US Express. I imagine they probably adhere to whatever drug test method USX uses. I have not found definitive information on whether USX does hair tests in addition to the DOT required urine test. To be safe, it's probably a good idea to wait 3-6 months for all drugs to clear out of your system. A positive or refused drug test will ruin your trucking career for a very long time, if not forever.

Additionally....if you plan on beating or cheating the drug test, then going back to using, know that randoms are given on a regular basis in this industry. They are especially common after hometime and vacations (more likely to have used). You will also be tested after accidents, regardless of who is at fault, and for probable cause (looking or acting high).

I'm not accusing you of anything; as Brett points out, there are legitimate reasons to be worried about the hair test. And if you have used in the past but are going clean, I will not judge anyone who is committed to bettering themselves and their life. But you should know that if you have used illegal drugs, and are serious about getting into trucking, all use has to stop. For your own safety, and the safety of everyone else on the road, as well as your livelihood.

Can anyone tell me is the Urine test Swift trucking school gives separate from the Dot urine test they perform when you go for the physical , Or the same test ? One Test , not two correct ?

I know that when i did my DOT physical last week they asked if i wanted to do the drug test, but i told them no. The recruiter told me that even if you come in with a drug test they will retest you anyways.

I do know that the DOT urine test itself is to check for anything odd in your urine, like blood or protein, something that points to a problem, it is different then a drug screening.

My question on the hair drug test, what do they do if you are bald???

I'm bald.....they will take a body hair sample. I believe CRST does both, most companies appear to be going this route. They are wanting to be sure your not an addict.... don't need some pot head or worse out in a big truck having an accident. There is no way to beat a hair test, if you are concerned about a test, you can buy a "home" test online from Walmart for around $40, send it in, and get the results online. A lot of concerned parents do this to see if their kids are using. Results are available online in about 3 days.

They will take hair from either your head, beard, legs, chest, back, armpit or at times your pub region...

Swifts testing is separate from dot. They will teat ya like 4 times too.. My class was at least..

I agree , and can pass hair or urine . But asking a question doesn't prove guilt . There are many reasons one could have for asking such a question . So there's no reason to stop the spreading of information some here may deem relevant with the stay out my Industry crap . I don't do drugs but know there is a fine line between prescription drugs that kill more people then illegal drugs , but that's another conversation .
