George, if you are interested in flat-bed work, I know that TMC has some special interest in veterans.
There is also a few flat-bed companies in Florida that might be easier to get hired onto - sometimes Florida is a little bit of a tricky location for trucking jobs. Look into Cypress Trucking Company out of Florida.

Another good company to check into is Prime. I know for a fact they hire from FL. They have reefer , flatbed and food grade tanker (not sure if the tanker is an option being from FL), but I know reefer & flatbed are.

I retired last Sept with 22yrs. I'm on my final week of CDL school. Sat i tested for my Pre Trip and passed Wednesday i take my last two skills and the drive. I live in South FL so I'm leaning towards Werner. They seem to have the best benefits for Vets . Please feel free to enlightening me on any other companies. Werner is offering 37CPM to start. The only Exp i had was for one full tour (4yrs) they sent me to get my Military CDL, it was a collateral duty. to be able to flat bed a helicopter home when a pilot jacked it up.
Thanks
