My only experience with a manual was my dad saying, "Press in the clutch and brake and now the gas." He was freaking out with me trying in a parking lot and completely failed to teach me.
But, these are different types of manuals and I know you're not the only one to be doing it for the first time. You might even have a whole class who has never driven one. You'll be fine.
Thanks, Realist. I need to quit worrying about it. Worrying won't help me any. I'm more anxious to see what life as an OTR driver is.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Good luck with Melton. I've heard very good things about the company.

My niece's husband drives for Melton and he is one of their trainers. Let me know when you are heading that direction and I will see if Dave is ready for a new student. He is presently on the road with my niece for the summer. Not sure how much longer they will stay out before she goes back home.
Ernie
Thanks guys.
Ernie, that would be great if timing would work out that way. I truthfully think I would be an awesome student. I'm easy going and easy to put up with.
I'll keep you updated.

I'll be on my way to orientation with Melton September 21. I'm definitely nervous, yet excited. I know I have tons to learn and hopeful that I get the job. I'm thankful for all the great info on this forum.
I've had a CDL for 2 years but never drove a manual. My recruiter didn't think that would be a problem. For some reason I was stressing myself out about that. Anyways, thanks guys!
