TMC Transportation began in Des Moines, IA in 1972 with only 6 trucks. Today, TMC Transportation is the largest and most successful privately held flatbed trucking company in the United States, operating throughout North America. In addition to accepting experienced truck drivers, TMC Transportation hires inexperienced drivers who recently graduated from an approved truck driving school.

The training at TMC will last approximately 6 weeks.
You will spend at least 5 weeks OTR with a trainer. They don't guarantee home time during training but most apprentice drivers do see home every weekend. You will be refined on your driving and trip planning skills and learn to become proficient in load securement and tarping. Here is a breakdown of company training:
You will average approximately $500 per week during your training.
Lunch is provided during all training.
Trainers are paid $75 per week while training other drivers.
You are dispatched as a team during training with TMC
At TMC you will run solo after training.
Read the company's hiring requirements below and then:
No felonies, drug convictions, or DUI in the past 10 years.
No DUI's less than 10 years old.
The hiring area for TMC changes on an as needed basis, but TMC generally hires from the Eastern Half of the United States.
TMC offers a choice between percentage pay and mileage pay. Percentage rates start at 26% for new graduates, 27% for experienced drivers, and go as high as 32%.
Mileage pay starts at $.45 for new drivers, $.47 for experienced drivers
Additional Pay:
TMC does offer per diem pay and it's optional, not forced. The driver has some options on how they want to do their per diem if they want into the program, their options are explained to them in depth at orientation.
TMC operates all 48 contiguous states
TMC has the following home time options available:
90% of drivers are home every weekend, and average 52 hours of home time.
Immediate family, at least 10 years old.
Up to $6,000 after 30 days employment with TMC
TMC transports freight in to and out of Canada, so you will be required to obtain either a U.S. Passport, or a Passport Card (PassCard). You need to have a certified copy of your birth certificate and it must have the raised seal.
35% of TMC drivers are military veterans. Eligible veterans can earn up to $1,407.00 per month paid directly to you by the Veterans Administration for up to 24 months. These TAX FREE benefits are in addition to your TMC earnings. Eligibility is determined by the VA and depends on your years of service.
TMC uses mostly 9 speed manual transmissions.
