Southern Refrigerated Transport hauls temperature-controlled and dry freight throughout 48 US states and in Canada. Services include transportation of fresh produce from the West Coast to destinations in the Midwest and the Southeast.

The company is a subsidiary of Tennessee-based truckload carrier Covenant Transportation Group. Tony Smith, the president of Southern Refrigerated Transport, founded the company in 1986 and sold it to Covenant in 1998.

Southern Refrigerated Transport Minimum Hiring Qualifications

  • Have a current Class A CDL License
  • Have at least 7 months OTR experience
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Have a good driving record
  • Pass DOT drug screen and physical requirements
  • No criminal convictions (misdemeanors including DUI's and DWI's) within the last 5 years. (Includes probation time)
  • FELONIES- Reviewed by Management
  • No more than 4 moving violations in the last three years
  • No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last three years
  • Must meet or exceed all federal, state, insurance and company policies, rules or regulations for qualification
