Carter Express was founded in 1983, supplying transportation services to our customers in an efficient, economical, and timely manner- and to accomplish this while being a great place to work.
Carter Express provides truckload service to the Continental United States and Eastern Canada. Carter was rated 1st in the nation for safety from 2009-2010.
The training at Carter will last approximately 10 weeks.
CDL school will be 3-4 weeks, company training is about 6 weeks.
You will average approximately $400 per week during your training.
For Week 1 - $350; For Weeks 2 thru Week 6 - $400 per week
You are dispatched as a team during training with Carter
Trainer/trainee runs as a solo truck. The driver trainee drivers while the trainer observes from the passenger seat. The trainer never drives.
At Carter you will run solo after training.
Felony or misdemeanor convictions may preclude employment.
No alcohol related driving offenses in the last 5 years. Alcohol related driving offenses reviewed on an individual basis.
Carter Express operates mostly regional routes, so drivers will normally need to live in the vicinity of a terminal.
Carter Express offers 2 bonus programs that average an additional 3 cpm.

Carter has the following home time options available:
Guarantee every driver will be home a minimum of 2 days per week; however, as drivers deliver regionally, the average driver makes two roundtrip loads per week. Drivers are usually home once or twice during their five day work week.
After 90 days, a driver is allowed to take a passenger in the truck. The passenger must be 12 years of age, or older. A passenger accident/medically policy must be purchased by the driver. Cost is $25 per week.
