In 1961, Mose and Dorothy Higginbotham founded the company in Memphis, Tenn., as a regional LTL carrier. Ozark incorporated in 1967. Although adding customers each year, the company remained primarily a local carrier until the early 1980s.
Today, Ozark boasts a fleet of over 700 tractors. Equipped with satellite communications equipment, Ozark drivers deliver freight to customers throughout the United States.
Still owned by the Higginbothams, the company maintains its headquarters in Memphis, TN, and operates terminal facilities in Lebanon TN, Evansville IN, Springfield MO, Lenoir NC, and Oakland MS.
Ozark now accepts drivers with less than 3 months experience, or graduates from truck driving schools. These 'New Entrant' drivers must enter a program to evaluate their skills to safely operate a tractor trailer, with the motoring public.
This program includes a combination of training methods consisting of some lectures, driving course and computer training modules. This is paid training, paid orientation and paid on-road training.
Potential drivers must have NO felonies that are LESS THAN 10 years old from release date or end of probation.
No DUI, DWI or Impaired in the last 7 years.
Most of Ozark's freight is carried within a 200 mile radius of Memphis, TN, and they hire drivers mainly from that area, as well.
Solo pay increases $.01 per year, topping out at $.46.
Teams are generally only husband-wife couples, and pay depends on experience.
After 60 days you qualify for individual or family medical insurance. Optional coverage available for disability and dental.

Most drivers will be home weekly, a small percentage daily, depending on the route.
Rider must be at least 10 years of age. No more than two (2) riders at a time can accompany driver. Riders need not be members of driver's family.
Ozark gives preference to military veterans when hiring.
