I'm not from Illinois, but I've always done my physicals in whatever state I'm in when it's due. You just have to make sure it gets certified in your state. I used to take my new card to my home state (TX) and self certify it at the DMV. This last time I did my physical in Mississippi and the place that did the physical emailed it to Texas and certified it for me. I got online two weeks later to confirm the certification and it was done.

Thanks for sharing how you do it, Old School. I think I just found a good place near me so I'll call them to set up an appointment hopefully for next week.

I got my CDL Permit today with all the endorsements except hazmat. I started to apply the mega carriers. (Swift, Schneider, CRST, Knight, CR England). I also went to that link Mrs Anne put where you can apply to a bunch of companies. From that list I got a email from TT saying I only qualify with CRST.
Swift contacted me 30 minutes right after. The recruiter told me to try again in November because I got a ticket in May.
Any other carriers I can try where they teach me to drive and get a CDL and then I can drive for that company? I live in Fontana, CA. Swift was actually my first choice because I know they have a training center here and a terminal but I’ll go to any just to get my foot in the door.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Congrats on the permit Johnny!

Johnny;
MAJOR KUDOS on your CDLP ~!! That's odd that CRST is the only qualifier; do you live off the grid, perhaps?!?!?
Seriously, just kidding... many companies are all about 'location location location;' especially as of late; then again, THAT DANG TICKET.
A few other training companies you can try are: Continental Express, 800.497.2100 ext 137, ask for Angie Marshall and say Anne mentioned her.
Keim Transport has an awesome training program, as well: 1.800.255.2450 . . . ask for Casey, and mention us at Trucking Truth.
Witte Bros. is another great one, 314.219.4232 .. ask for Donna or Darien, and again; mention us!
Let us (me!) know from thereon; and yet again, Swift is a great choice.
You'll get this; you'll find the right match up!!! Holiday weekends don't help your plight, hang in.
Stay safe and Sober; PROTECT that CDLP!!
~ Anne ~
ps: PLEASE let us know about the above, and keep studying!
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

That's a good idea. I have to renew my plate sticker anyways so I'll do that at one of the few facilities near me that handle CDL matters and ask there, as well as see if an appointment is needed or if I can walk in for the CLP test when I'm ready.
